Ice Fisher's Guide to the Sport

Bass. The whole purpose for a fisherman to live is to catch fish, and Bass make for fun fishin' and mighty fine eatin'.
Muskie. Mean fish. And big. Not so good eatin', but great fishin'. You get a guaranteed tall tale, and if you hold on to it, a heck of a mantle trophy.
Talipini. Very mean fish. And really big. Not native to American waters. Not good for much of anything but ruining the fishin' in the lake.
Pick'em Up Truck. Proof ice fishers are more than a bit nuts. We drive these out on frozen lakes. Sometimes they fall through the ice....
Ice House aka Fishin' Shack. We put these little shacks on the ice to go fishin' in the winter. What kind of women are in Minnesota that the men folk would rather spend the whole winter in these instead of stay with their wives at home? We really do love our Lenas, it's just a Minnesota thing. Fishing is something of a religion around these parts.
Auger and Bucket. The auger is the tool that makes the hole in the ice so we can fish in the winter. The bucket is useful for so many things. It's a seat in the ice fishin' house, where you put the fish you catch, and you can even use it when you figure out there are no restroom facilities for two miles. Please don't use the same bucket for the fish as the latrine though. Trust me. Please. Use two buckets. And leave the latrine bucket outside.
